Holy Cross Catholic Church Classroom Painting
INTERIOR PAINTING | CLASSROOM REFRESH
Background
Our team was selected for the interior repainting of classroom walls and metal trim, a project designed not only to refresh aesthetics but also to restore durability in a high-use learning environment. The scope of work included prepping walls, door frames, and window casings; repairing visible drywall damage; and applying high-performance coatings designed to withstand daily wear.
The Problem
The classrooms showed the effects of years of heavy use: dents, cracks, dings, and failed caulking left surfaces uneven and vulnerable. Glossy spots, peeling paint, and rough edges also risked poor adhesion if not properly prepared. Beyond cosmetic concerns, these issues impacted the overall atmosphere of the classrooms, and repairs had to be coordinated carefully with management to avoid disrupting normal operations.
Our Solution
Our field team approached the job with precision and attention to detail:
Surface Protection & Prep: Work areas were safeguarded with drop cloths and plastic, while glossy and rough patches were sanded to ensure a smooth base. Any loose paint was scraped and edges feathered for seamless adhesion.
Caulking & Repairs: Gaps between walls, frames, and casings were recaulked for long-lasting durability. Failed caulk was fully removed and redone. All visible drywall damage, from cracks to dents, was patched, sanded, and primed.
Primer & Coatings: The back wall received one coat of Sherwin Williams Extreme Block Primer to ensure proper bonding and stain resistance. All specified walls were finished with two coats of Sherwin Williams Scuff Tuff water-based enamel paint, a coating designed to resist scuffs in high-traffic areas.
Attention to Detail: Door hardware, frames, and adjacent surfaces were carefully taped and protected, while management coordinated furniture and item removal to give crews clear access.
